thank you Rosie...The Supporting Actors group sounds great. Def will check it out.
Danielle, I completely agree with you! Those supporting actors are like old friends to me. I also love Spring Byington, Ned Sparks, Elizabeth Patterson, Marjorie Main, Patsy Kelly, Billie Burke, Edward Arnold, Franklin Pangborn, and so many more. There was a completely different set of character actors in westerns and in dramas (with a few overlaps), but I'm not as familiar with those.
There is also a Supporting Actors group here. Maybe you can get some activity going there.
I am trying to compose a list of "Supporting Actors 'from all of those great classic comedies . James Gleason, Edward Horton, Roland Young,Thomas Mitchell....there were so many and each of these actors were so entertaining and funny and talented. I,m so greatful that these movies are a part of my life, because the talent today cannot compare to the talent of the golden age
Are you following this group? If so, let me know!
I love when Nick says, "I thought our name was Potter. I guess I was wrong...." http://thegreatkh.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/holiday-1938.html
I love trivia like this!
Yay, finally! Well done, Margaret! I will just add, since I'm sure it was only an oversight, that Susan and Nick's last name was Potter, but people kept mispronouncing it as Porter. At one point, Prof. Potter says in exasperation to his wife, "Maybe we should just change our name to Porter."
I have been away from GAOH for ages, so thank you for dragging me back! I will try to get a new trivia question up soon.
Can I still take a stab at the HOLIDAY (1938) picture? Linda Seton (seated), Susan, Ned, Johnny, and Nick. The absent sister is Julia. I haven't read any of the other comments, so I don't know if somebody already answered yet.
It would be nice if Katherine Hepburn & Cary Grant would sing I Can't Give You Anything But Love? ? ha-ha
