The Golden Age of Hollywood

You could win a $50.00 Amazon gift card!

The following email was sent by broadcast to all GAOH members last night. However, if your email is not current or our email went into your spam box I am posting the contents here as well.

Greetings fellow members of GAOH!

To keep from just copying a long message to you all I am providing a link to my blog post about our six year anniversary. To celebrate our anniversary, everyone who reads my blog post and actually posts a comment will be entered into a random drawing to win a $50.00 Amazon gift card from The Golden Age of Hollywood. To make it as fair as possible the contest rules are as follows:

1. To qualify you MUST tell us in some "detail" what The Golden Age of Hollywood Social Network has meant to you as a member, as a comment, in my blog post. (one or two line comments will not count)

2. You MUST be willing to provide me with an active email address or physical address for me to send the gift card to you either by email or U.S. Post (your choice)

3. You MUST be willing to use the gift card only for something classic movie related (i.e. DVDs, Blu-Rays, books, posters etc.)

4. You also MUST take pictures or a video and post a blog on The Golden Age of Hollywood Social Network of your Amazon purchase before April 30th, 2014. (the sooner the better) We all want to see what you used the money for!

If you cannot comply with the rules then please do NOT post in my blog post!

All respondents names will be placed in a hat and the winner will be announced on my birthday...March 31st, 2014. Remember you MUSTrespond as a comment in the blog post to qualify. Do NOT respond to this email unless you just want to say something to me personally. Email responses will not be entered into the drawing.

All members that follow the rules qualify to enter. The only exceptions are myself, Dave Miller and Classic Movie Man. Everyone else is eligible to win. Please bear in mind that I am not rich and there can be one and only one winner of the drawing. I have not completely worked out how the lucky member will be selected yet, but I likely will use a randomizer app and place all member names into the app and the seventh random name that comes up will be the winner. That seems pretty fair to me. Or I might just do it the old fashion way and use a hat. I'll even have my wife video tape the drawing and upload the video to a blog on my birthday.

It seemed easier to me to use a gift card rather than pick a movie or two as a prize. I hope you all think this is a fun way to celebrate our anniversary.

Good luck!!

Kevin

Affairs of the Heart: The Wedding Night (1935)

To view The Wedding Night click here. The Wedding Night was doomed from the start. It was producer Samuel Goldwyn’s final attempt at making the Ukrainian actress Anna Sten into a Garbo-level star, and his persistence had become something of a Hollywood joke. The Wedding Night became known around town as “Goldwyn’s Last Sten,” but […]

Murnau and the Phantoms of Germany

To view Phantom click here. It’s that time of year when Nosferatu (1922), F.W. Murnau’s interpretation of Dracula, appears on lists of recommended horror films. The oldest, existing film version of Bram Stoker’s novel, Nosferatu is likely Murnau’s most watched title. It’s eerie Expressionist style was a major influence on the American horror genre, but […]
