I was unaware that this film was made in Technicolor, but when I began to watch it I guessed that maybe it was done in order to learn some of the technique of colour filming for the upcoming Gone With The Wind project which was about to begin at Selznick studios.
Just a guess, as I say, but Tom Sawyer was a nice surprise for me. It is a pretty good film in its own right as one might expect since Mark Twain is no slouch as a source.
May Robson as Aunt Polly was good casting as was Walter Brennan and the always evil Victor Jory. Has anyone ever seen Victor Jory play a role as a 'good guy' ? I found this an entertaining time spent and I recommend it even if you have seen it before. ;-)
