All time favourite golden age hollywood actors?

I don’t know if this has already been discussed (if so I apologize) but I thought it would be fun to discuss everybody’s favourite hollywood actor from the golden era and why?
Mine is Marilyn Monroe though I’m pretty sure the mass majority favors her. (Not saying EVERYBODY loves her though)
Besides her I love Shirley Temple! She grew up to be an amazing woman and I adore her dearly.

I love Marilyn, too, although her heyday was a little later than the period I'm most interested in, film-wise.

My favorite actor is Jean Arthur. She played mostly comedic roles, which she was very good at, not because she had a funny or wisecracking persona, but because she was so good at playing an ordinary, good person placed in the middle of ridiculous or extraordinary events and reacting as any normal person would, but with great sensitivity to comedic timing. She tended to play intelligent, practical, working women, and to my recollection never played a society girl. If she did, it must have been early in her career, perhaps in one of her early mysteries (I havent seen all of her movies). Jean was someone ordinary people could relate to. She also had that adorable squeak in her voice, which she could completely control, as demonstrated in a scene in Easy Living in which she has to lie, and her stress shows in the squeak. The only other actor I know of who could do that was Melvyn Douglas.

Jean played in many screwball comedies (my favorite film genre) and was a favorite of Frank Capra. She starred in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, and You Can't Take It With You.
