Gem Data, I double-checked that title, and you are right! Thanks for your entry!
24.Nitro Circus: The Movie is a 2012 American 3D action comedy reality film directed by Gregg Godfrey and Jeremy Rawle, it was both a critical and commercial failure, grossing little more than half its $7 million budget.
Travis Pastrana and his tight-knit, highly-skilled, adrenaline-addicted friends bring their impossible, ridiculous, insane and hysterical adventures to the big screen for the first time.
I have not seen this movie, but came across it recently on iTunes. A modern take on circus.
25. The Dark Tower (1943) -a British circus thriller starring Ben Lyon, Anne Crawford, David Farrar and Herbert Lom. It was Herbert Lom's first feature film.
A penniless lion-tamer who possesses psychic powers, Stephen Torg (Herbert Lom) seeks a job in a struggling circus. The owner of the circus realises his potential when Torg restrains one of the lions when it escapes and he immediately hires him.
Consequently Torg's presence turns the outfit around and it makes money again. But Torg feels he is undervalued, he believes he should have a bigger stake in the enterprise. He uses his psychic powers to get what he wants to his own detriment.
Another interesting one, John! I only knew Herbert Lom from the Pink Panther movies.
26. The Sin of Harold Diddlebock - Harold Lloyd stars in this very silly comedy about a man who, despondent over the loss of his job and his girl, turns to drink and finds it quite to his liking. Under the influence, he becomes assertive and gregarious, completely unlike his sober self, and everything he does is successful. One of the things he does under the influence is buy a circus. The lion is a great asset when he asks for a loan at the bank.
#27Joan Crawford runs/owns a Circus, in a 1960s movie. I saw this when I was young around 10, I think, and at the time I did not know who Joan Crawford was, but she made quite an impact on me when she enters a scene in her circus director’s outfit.
The name of the movie is Berserk, quite frankly I do not know much more about the movie, I think Ty Hardin/Tab Hunter star in the movie with Joan Crawford. Someone can fill in the details as you can see it is a movie about a circus.
I now realize she was in her sixties when this movie was made.
28. You Can't Cheat an Honest Man (1939)- slapstick comedy starring the great man himself, W.C Fields, Edgar Bergen and his ventriloquist dummies Charley McCarthy and Mortimer Snerd, Eddie Anderson (Rochester), Constance Moore, Thurston Hall.
Love him or loath him Fields plays a shyster circus owner who runs a run-down enterprise with debt collectors and the law hot at his heels. Constance Moore plays his daughter, Victoria. Edgar Bergen and his famous vent dummies are stars in the show wisecracking with Fields reminiscent of their radio shows together on the Chase and Sanborn Hour.
Merry Christmas to all too : sorry I've not been around in a while. having some hols soon and will endeavour to get some entries in The Game! Best wishes to all. Peace Love and have a very Merry Christmas and Best wishes for 2019!!!
29. Oz: The Great and Powerful (2013) James Franco, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams, Mila Kunis
Been trying to remember the name of this one for this whole round! Finally came to me!
When shady circus magician Oscar Diggs (James Franco) is hurled away from Kansas into the wonderful land of Oz, he thinks that fame and fortune are his for the taking.
However, three witches -- Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams) remain unconvinced that Oscar is the great wizard that the inhabitants of Oz need and expect.
Reluctantly drawn into Oz's epic problems, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it's too late.
Saw this move at the movies a few years back and it had some good aspects.
