I rewatched From Here to Eternity last night and cried all the way through Pru (Monty) playing taps for Maggio (Sinatra).
I remember you playing it in The Game. But the full emotional impact didn't hit until the scene in the film last night. It's that soulful bugle playing and brilliant editing. In other worlds, the power of classic film.
I always cry when watching Imitation of Life. It is one of my favorite movies.
My mom hates to watch it because it is such a tear-jerker.
I love tearjerkers! Many films get me teary-eyed, but a few bring not only tears, but intense sobs.
Madame X (the Lana Turner version)
Imitation of Life (both the Lana Turner and the Claudette Colbert version)
The Fighting Sullivans
Make Way for Tomorrow
Ten North Frederick
I can only of think of one and it's City Lights. I'll probably watch it again soon to find out if anything's changed in ten years.
